Welcome to MIKE C-MAP Release 2011.
MIKE C-MAP is an efficient tool for extracting depth data and predicted tidal elevation from the world-wide Electronic Chart Database CM-93 Edition 3.0,
named
C-MAP
Professional+,
manufactured by Jeppesen Marine AS, Norway.
MIKE C-MAP is a powerful tool that makes modelling work faster and easier. Extracted sea bed elevations and land contour values can be imported directly into MIKE Zero's Bathymetry Editor and Mesh Generator and interpolated into a grid or mesh, which can be used as model bathymetry in e.g. MIKE 21 and MIKE 3. Extracted tidal time series can be imported directly into MIKE Zero's Time Series Editor, and used as e.g. boundary conditions or for calibration and verification purposes.
Using MIKE C-MAP requires a software license from DHI, and a license from Jeppesen Marine to the user specified electronic chart coverage. The C-Map Professional+ digital chart database is provided on a DVD. MIKE C-MAP does not work in 'Demo' mode, so please ensure that you have obtained these licences before you start the installation. MIKE C-MAP is only available as a single seat license - network licenses are at present not available.
The recommended minimum hardware requirements are:

Installation^ top
To install MIKE C-MAP, please choose 'MIKE C-MAP in the 'MIKE by DHI Setup' dialog that appears when inserting the MIKE by DHI 2011 DVD. Before you press the 'Install' button we recommend that you read the note describing how to install MIKE C-MAP and the C-MAP Professional+ chart database - this is available here.
The setup program automatically installs all necessary MIKE C-MAP files and folders on your PC. Additionally, a 'MIKE by DHI 2011' entry is created, containing DHI License Administration, DHI Software and License Updater, including a 'MIKE C-MAP' entry containing icons for MIKE C-MAP, C-MAP License Administration and C-MAP Chart Database Administration (GDBAdmin).
MIKE C-MAP is protected by DHI’s standard dongle system with license files. The product can be added to an existing DHI license – no new dongle is required. The C-MAP charts are similarly protected by a dongle system with license file. For first time holders of C-MAP chart licenses, the C-MAP dongle and license must be obtained through DHI Denmark.
To use MIKE C-MAP in licensed-mode please follow these steps:
- It is recommended to copy the C-MAP Professional+ chart database from the DVD to your hard disk before you start the installation. This will ensure a faster performance and you can register this as your default database.
- Similarly, we recommend that you copy the C-MAP license (password.usr) from the supplied e-mail to your hard disk.
- Make sure that the provided C-MAP dongle is attached to the computer (USB port)
- The dongle drivers for the DHI dongle (Sentinel) and the C-MAP dongle (eToken PKI) are installed automatically during the installation of the program.
- The MIKE software license file (DhiLicense.dat) may be retrieved using the Internet. A working Internet connection and a valid e-mail address are required. The license file may be retrieved in two ways:
- During installation of MIKE Software
- After installation of MIKE Software, by launching the License Updater through the start menu
- To retrieve your license file during installation of MIKE Software, select “Local” when prompted to select the type of License Management, and then select “Internet” and follow the on-screen instructions
- To update your license file using the License Updater, simply launch “Start->Programs->MIKE by DHI 2011-> License Updater” and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Alternatively, the license file can simply be copied from the supply medium (attachment to e-mail from DHI or CD/DVD) in \Program Files\DHI\2011\License or Program Files (x86)\DHI\2011\License.

To start MIKE C-MAP go to Start -> Programs -> MIKE by DHI 2011-> MIKE C-MAP and select 'MIKE C-MAP'.
Starting MIKE C-MAP without a DHI configured Software Key and valid license file isn't possible. If starting MIKE C-MAP with a DHI configured Software Key and license file only you will be able to view a background chart in large scale. However, without DHI and C-Map configured Software Keys and licence files MIKE C-Map will not be able to display or extract detailed chart information.

New features^ top
Almost every new release of MIKE C-MAP consists of new features and/or corrections to problems or significant inconsistencies discovered in previous releases. Please find brief descriptions of the most significant news in Release 2011 below.
- Jeppesen Marine has introduced a new dongle for protection of their C-MAP products as the previous type is being phased out of production. The new protection system is using Aladdin eToken PRO 72k (JAVA) dongle, and support to this has been added to their standard Software Development Kit, SDK 4.5. This SDK has been used in the development of the MIKE C-MAP Release 2011. This implies that MIKE C-MAP now can be installed on PCs using the operating systems described above under 'Hardware Requirements'.

Service Pack 3 (SP3) includes fixes to inconveniences and errors, minor modifications and features to MIKE C-MAP Release 2011. No additional changes have been applied for MIKE C-MAP in Service Pack 3.
