Installation^ top

To install MIKE 3, please choose 'MIKE 3' in the 'MIKE by DHI Setup' dialog that appears when inserting the MIKE software 2011 DVD and then press the 'Install' button.

The setup program automatically installs all necessary MIKE 3 files and folders on your PC. Additionally, a 'MIKE by DHI 2011' entry is created, containing icons for various MIKE Zero and MIKE 3 utilities and links to documentation.

License File and Dongle^ top

To use MIKE 3 in licensed-mode please follow these steps:

  1. The MIKE software license file (DhiLicense.dat) may be retrieved using the Internet. A working Internet connection and a valid e-mail address are required. The license file may be retrieved in two ways:
  • During installation of MIKE software
  • After installation of the MIKE software, by launching the DHI License Updater through the start menu
  1. To retrieve your license file during installation of the MIKE software, select “Local” when prompted to select the type of License Management, and then select “Internet” and follow the on-screen instructions. Attach your hardware when prompted.
  2. To update your license file using the License Updater, simply launch “Start->Programs->MIKE by DHI 2011->DHI License Updater” and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Alternatively, the license file can simply be copied from the supply medium (attachment to e-mail from DHI or CD/DVD) in  \Program Files\DHI\2011\License or Program Files (x86)\DHI\2011\License.
  4. After completed installation, ensure that your hardware key is attached to the system.

Product Invocation^ top

To start MIKE 3, go to Start -> Programs -> MIKE by DHI 2011 -> MIKE Zero  and select 'MIKE Zero'. Then you can select MIKE 3 from within the MIKE Zero Shell

Starting MIKE 3 without a DHI configured Software Key and valid license files causes the program to run in Demo mode. If this happens, a message box will inform you during program initialization. Running in Demo mode, MIKE 3 supplies full access to all editors, computational engines and editing facilities. However, restrictions apply to the setups that can actually be executed as a model simulation.

ECOLAB Incorrect formulation in template "WQlevel4ColiPhos.ecolab" caused mass balance errors
Fixed
MIKE 3 FM
  • For the solution of the 3D advection-dispersion equations an implicit Crank Nicholson scheme is applied for the vertical dispersion. This scheme is unconditionally stable. However, the accuracy will depend on the dispersion coefficient ,k, the time step, dt, and the and vertical grid spacing, dz. In shallow water areas the sigma layers may become very small and hence unphysical solutions may be obtained (e.g. negative concentrations in the MT module). To reduce the error a limit on the dispersion coefficient is applied so that gamma = k*dt/(dz*dz) is less than 0.5
  • Problem to specify 3D output in a subdomain using MPI
