Release Note - 2011

Introduction

Welcome to MIKE 11 GIS Release 2011.

MIKE 11 GIS is a pre- and postprocessing module for MIKE 11. As an extension to ESRI ArcMAP™ 10.0 version and requires that ArcGIS is pre-installed. It assist setting up network, cross-sectional and boundary files for MIKE 11 models, and can be used to present time series results and flood maps from MIKE 11 simulations. It also includes non-point and point pollutant load estimation tools for MIKE 11 WQ simulations. A comprehensive time series data managment capability is included.

Hardware Requirements

The recommended minimum hardware requirements are:

Supported Operating Systems: Windows XP Professional (32 and 64 bit), Windows Vista Business (32 and 64 bit), Windows 7 Professional (32 and 64 bit)
Processor: 2.0 GHz PC (or higher)
Memory (RAM): 1GB (or higher)
Hard disk: 40 GB (or higher)
Monitor: SVGA, resolution 1024x768 in 16bit colour
Graphic Card: 32 MB RAM (or higher), 24 bit true colour
Media: CD-ROM/DVD drive, 20 x speed (or higher)
File system: NTFS

Installation^ top

To install MIKE 11 GIS, please choose 'MIKE 11 GIS in the 'MIKE BY DHI' dialog that appears when inserting the MIKE software 2011 DVD and then press the 'Install' button.

The setup program automatically installs all necessary MIKE 11 GIS files and folders on your PC.

License File and Dongle^ top

To use MIKE 11 GIS in licensed-mode please follow these steps:

  1. Make sure that the provided dongle is attached to the computer (parallel or USB port - for Windows XP Professional x64 Edition USB port only)
  2. The dongle driver is installed automatically during the setup of the program
  3. The MIKE software license file (DhiLicense.dat) may be retrieved using the Internet. An Internet connection and a valid e-mail address are required. The license file may be retrieved in two ways:
  • During installation of MIKE Software
  • After installation of MIKE Software, by launching the License Updater through the start menu
  1. To retrieve your license file during installation of MIKE Software, select “Local” when prompted to select the type of License Management, and then select “Internet” and follow the on-screen instructions
  2. To update your license file using the License Updater, simply launch “Start->Programs->MIKE BY DHI 2011->License Updater” and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Alternatively, the license file can simply be copied from the supply medium (attachment to e-mail from DHI or CD/DVD) in  \Program Files\DHI\2011\License or Program Files (x86)\DHI\2011\License.

Product Invocation^ top

To start MIKE 11 GIS,  go to Start -> Programs -> MIKE BY DHI 2011 -> MIKE GIS and select 'MIKE GIS'.

MIKE 11GIS cannot be started without a configured Software Key and valid license file for MIKE 11 GIS.  Please contact DHI's Software Support Center.

If the MIKE 11 GIS toolbas does not appear when starting up MIKE 11 GIS, the following steps may be taken:

Enabling MIKE 11 GIS for ArcGIS Extension

The MIKE 11 GIS extension may need to be enabled as follows:

  1. Select Tools from ArcMap™ menu bar
  2. Point to Extensions
  3. Check 'MIKE 11 GIS'  and from the list of extensions and click Close button.

To turn on visibility of MIKE 11 GIS toolbars, proceed as follows

  1. Select View from ArcMap™ menu bar
  2. Point to Toolbars
  3. Make sure 'MIKE 11 GIS' has a box checked. If not then check the box and click on the Close button.
